Carla Dijk makes ceramic objects. Her work is inspired by her surroundings and by the richness of patterns in Islamic and African architecture.

Architectural shapes keep reappearing in her work. After many relocations and just as many living environments, she started representing her surroundings because of her own saying: “the house you live in, determines the mood of your soul”. More and more, she’s started depicting her non-existent living environment.
