Marianne loves to apply multiple ceramic techniques in her work. Besides, she develops her own glazes. The technique chosen; serves the story she wishes to tell. Her work “Anthomaren” is a collection of organic, colorful objects, inspired by the richness of shapes and colors from nature, her biggest source of inspiration.
Translated literally, “Anthomare” means “flower of the sea”, which might create associations to sea anemones or other voluptuous (floral)shapes. This collection is an ode to the beauty and vulnerability of Earth, and her nature. At the same time, it’s a plea to (re)appreciate and respect our natural surroundings.
Another project is the “Vasotheek”. The goal is to make a minimum of 100 small vases, in the same shape, but each with a different character and title. These titles are based on actual experiences, which transforms this collection of small vases to a personal diary in clay.
